Bee-balm or Oswego Tea

So the use of bee balm as an herbal tea. The Oswego tribe of western New York is credited with passing the practice on to the settlers, hence the name. It notable that the Shakers became big fans. It is even said to have gained popularity after the Boston Tea Party, providing a native substitute that did not have to face the import tax. The homeopaths will claim usefulness for nausea, vomiting, insomnia, menstruation regulation, and get this, it even treats flatulence. It also contains the aromatic antiseptic thymol widely used in dentistry.  The point though, is this: the harvesting of “what the earth puts forth…”
