Wealthy Family to the Cliff

Dreams Unfolding

I’m watching from a distance as an invading force is leading the wealthy family, the lords of the manor, to a cliff.  One blubbers, another becomes scrappy fighting for her life, and the third adopts the stoic posture of a martyr.  Before any of them is thrown to their deaths, I make an escape through the woods.

Then, I’ve been given a house to conduct business in.  It’s been ransacked, but as I walk through I begin to consider where I will set up the different functions.

my response:

The crisis reveals the different character attributes of the three siblings and in a strange way the dignity of each different response is equal: grief, resistance and acceptance.  Reminds me of the Burghers by Rodin which I viewed this weekend in Philadelphia.  There is a path of escape from this scene which I rush down, partly to save my skin but also to find reserves that might come to our aid.

The next scene is rebuilding after the looting.  I have been given more responsibility in the next phase of redevelopment.  While making my decisions, I know that the three from the previous scene were spared as I am considering how to make appropriate accomodations for them in this place of business building.
