Invitation to partner in another’s project

Dreams Unfolding

A priest I know surprises me when he says he wants me to be a partner in a project he is starting.

my response:

The invitation catches me off guard.  It has felt like there is a level is distrust in the relationship.  In the context of the dream series, the next step from the “intelligence summit” of the preceding dream did not as I thought point toward issues of the provisional life.  Instead it continues the theme of the dozen or so dreams that went before.  Here things are shifted and no longer am I swinging between faith options.  After having given a two day lecture on Jungian psychology last week where I found myself speaking from that place that the NPR series “this I believe…” gets so well, now a new development.  I’m asked to partner in a new faith project.

My emotional reaction is to resist.  Why tether my individuation to another’s plan?  Unless, of course, it is what the Self really wants.  So I move forward cautious and asking for details.  What is clear is that he’s not seeking a volunteer, but a peer.
