An interesting discussion was generated on twitter around the word “brilliant” last night by Liz Strauss which she encapsulated and posted on her blog this morning. Reflecting further, I commented there and find myself continuing to ponder something that’s been kicking around in the back of my head.
When Jung writes of the transcendant function he points to the development of collaborative dialogue between the ego and the unconscious that allows the process of individuation to unfold. In my life, letting the brilliance in occurs when this collaboration occurs. On my own, I develop few bursts of light. When working collaboratively with the unconscious I tend to reflect or channel the light that is seeking expression. I understand my job to be this: keep the faceted lens polished and accessible. Other than that, it’s a matter of letting go to see what might happen.
