Dream:
I’m seated in an antique car from the 1940’s, the kind that had a huge interior and a dome like roof. It has been restored to perfection. When I get out to look at the car I’m surprised to see that it is a 1960’s model, with long horizontal lines from front to back.
Amplification:
While I’ve never been fascinated by cars, I recognize the intense commitment it takes to keep a vehicle in top condition. If attention equals love, then collector cars are some of the most loved pieces of metal since the alchemists were hiding in their sheds trying to make gold.
This dream presents an experiential paradox of the interior having a form that is different than the exterior. It’s an image that opens up a new reflection for me regarding introversion and extroversion. It is as if this sense of a duplex is revealing that exterior forms are built on the interior forms of the previous generation. Now that should make one pause and hold back the next time they want to criticize teen culture.
