The Fever Dreams…

I had quite a few dream images while ill.  These stuck.

1.  A man comes into my grandparents house and says they will be leaving now.  He holds my grandfathers walking stick.  I get up and grab the stick saying your free to go but you can’t have that.

2. My twitter stream is all Mrs. Obama and though I’m trying to find some of my friends I can’t find any accounts that are not supporting or parodying her.

3. Busing tables at a restaurant and call down to the basement to bring up another case of Spanish wine.  There is no reply, so I go downstairs.  In the basement is another restaurant and the waitresses tease me as though I’ve lowered myself to visit them.  Then the owner wants to introduce me to someone.  He takes me to another room and three Cardinals are seated at a table.  The one in the middle he introduces to me as the Pope.

4. At a beach town and a major sweep has taken place where the cops have busted up some big criminal ring.  The place is deserted as I walk into a small convenience store.  The two men working there are scared by my arrival and start throwing things at me.  I start throwing items back but yell for them to stop, it is not needed any more.

  • Richard,

Would you say then that our dreams are altered when we are physically ill? In other words, do we dream differently when we're not feeling well? Do we dream more?

  • Henie,
Though I do not know what the brain science says, I'm confident that the experience alters. Many of the dreams speak of the body's experience, especially some of the imagery that didn't get defined here as a dream image, had a sense of the warfare going on within the blood stream.
  • I like the Twitter stream one. I remember when I first got on Twitter and spent days on it like a typical addict, my dreams were very fractured and rambunctious. Glad to hear you are doing better.
