Hey Jay,
The sense of consulting the oracle in the case of the I Ching is with the goal of understanding the alignment of archetypal potential in an unfolding situation. Jung developed much of his synchronicity theory from his reflections on the I Ching and the acausal meaningfulness that emerges from the consultation of the sixty four hexagrams and the “meaning field” they generate.
