Lending a hand

I wanna hold your hand

My Valentine Wish for everybody is simple.  That we turn the idea of lending a hand, which at times we reserve for the needy or the hurting, and apply it to those that are most precious and dear to us.

Perhaps it’s not an hand, but an ear.  Perhaps an eye.  Perhaps…

When we really boil it down, is love anything but our attention?

As Detlef reminded me earlier, “we get by with a little help from our friends…”

Happy Valentines Day.

I think John Lennons song 'Imagine' should be required listening! Thanks for following me on twitter.

Thank you for such a nice post and thank you for being the giving person that you are 365 days a year. I am glad that I have "met" you via twitter and learning more about you through your blog. Have a magnificent day!

  • Life might be a team sport, after all ;)

  • Hey Detlef,
I think it is, yes, but the need of the individual, while seemingly a contradiction, is also as important. Another one of those needs to combine the opposites.

  • I would like to see Valentine's Day transition into a less capitalistic and material day into something like what you describe here, Richard. I'm of the opinion that Valentine's Day probably does more harm than good, except if you work for Hallmark or Russel Stover.

  • Hi Trey,
The commercialism is always ruinous in my mind. If any good can come from the current economic collapse, my hope is that the tendency toward commercialism will be undermined substantially.

I could not agree more. We are all in this together. Anytime you need a hand, arm, eye, or liver, give me a call- I have plenty to spare. :-)

  • Hey Jay, Thank goodness you are not dealing with a literalist here...

  • Hi Richard,

I have always thought about this too...why can't we all treat each other everyday, the way we do around the holidays?

If only we lived everyday like a holiday! :~)

    Best Always,

  • Hi Henie,
Living each day for it's potential is a monk like habit which I think we are learning needs to spread out into common practice.
