Recently I posted about the challenges of not falling into a rut.  Today I want to focus on the positive aspect of the same phenomenon…namely, the groove.  My thinking isn’t real clear on this topic, but the experience is one I’m always aware of when it occurs.  Doors seem to open as they are approached.  Questions of which way to go seem non-existent.  The spiritual teaching about Tao seems written into reality itself.  One’s personal will takes a back seat, quite content not to undo what’s happening with contrary motives.

Grooves…

  • accompany experiences of flow
  • allow us to cover more distance than the energy we exert
  • align with the grooves of others
  • seem to have a higher purpose
  • feel connected to fate
  • constellate experiences of synchronicity
  • leverage small actions into large results
  • brings chaos into human scaled order

There’s a saying I sometimes share with the students I work with: do the next right thing and it seems that the whole world begins to tip in your direction.  What do you do to find your groove?

  • Nice thoughts for a Saturday morning. As you write, the groove starts with doing "the next thing." Seems like it's about momentum through tiny actions. This resonates with me since I tend to get overwhelmed when I have a good idea but only focus on the entirety of the task. That pattern often leads to zero action.
  • I can relate to having a focus on the whole undermine any acaul
    movement...thanks for the thoughts.
