Soul Vistas

The sleepy boats...

Certain turns in the journey of life open up a new perspectives that are both stunning and sustaining.  It’s as if the path climbs just enough above the surrounding terrain to open up a vista.  Or it’s as if our little boat rounds the protective spit of the harbor to glimpse for the first time the expanse of the encompassing ocean.

While the tasks at hand often distract us before long, profound images  imprint themselves into our being.  We emerge a different person than the individual that preceded the encounter.

My experience is that this is true both for extroverted and introverted experience can have this effect on us.  Over the past year my experiences in Yosemite and Yellowstone were transformative.  Likewise, I’ve developed new friendships this year, and each face of a friend seems reflected like an icon in my soul. Then on the introverted side of things, certain dream images amongst the many dozens that have arisen this year have altered my sense of self as well.

I’m clearly not an iconoclast…you?
