Fear and Loathing

As I explore the interesting split between introversion and extroversion, and consider my experience with the students I’m so fortunate to work with, I’m struck by the manner in which fear and loathing operate as opposite sides of the same coin.

What interesting about this pair is that I’ve observed some who fear themselves and loath others, and the opposite, those that loath themselves and fear others.

While not the fullness of what Jung teaches regarding the shadow, this inversion of perspective does point to the compensatory action of the psyche.  It gives some reason to beware of an exaggerated optimism as this post points out…
