What’s your station? In Sufi literature this question refers to one’s progress in the journey toward the Divine.
For me growing up it referred to the rock and roll FM radio station one listened to. And while social media tends to use the metaphor “platform,” I think these points are related. While posting this, as you can see from the photo, I’m standing on the platform at the station.
This past April I heard Louis Gray speak in San Francisco and his point was simple: the challenge we face is tuning into the signal amongst all the white noise. Otherwise the sheer volume of information will undermine one’s ability to be effective.
Many spiritual teachings place warnings on being distracted from one’s goal by the entrapments of the world. To that end, it strikes me as pertinent that no one arriving at this train station with me sees it as anything but a means to get to where they are going. To often with social media, folks turn the platforms into the ends…
