He’s Back!

by Richard Reeve on February 17, 2010

in @CCSeed

Hi friends,

After a hiatus here in the cottage (which was actually necessitated by a huge publicity push on behalf of The Family Foundation School) I’m excited to get my writing legs back for my personal reflections on my ongoing journey with Psyche.

Throughout this time I’ve remained as active as possible through sharing valuable links.  I’ve also been deeply engaged with my studies which throughout the next few months are focused on Alchemy, Shakespearean tragedy and Addiction.

Stepping away from this space which has become such a personal piece of my identity over the past twenty months has provided an interesting perspective on the social media and the obsessive aspects which can grab hold of us.  Have any of you watched Matchstick Men recently?

More soon…

Lullaby

Just coming to realize that every lullaby draws is effect through the interaction of the child’s breath with the one that holds her.

It’s a kind of synchronized serenity…

Write America

by Richard Reeve on January 19, 2010

in @CCSeed

My friend Marty has launched her Write America project in 2010. Its a wonderful process where she finds an interesting, odd, tragic, or just plain weird news item from a different State each week and uses the story as a writing prompt for either a short story or a poem.

She’s three states in now, so you’ll want to catch up!

I wanted to share with all of you that I’ve been busy as of late writing a variety of posts in my role on the leadership team at The Family Foundation School.  I’m truly blessed to work with such a talented group whose mission is to help troubled teens and their families find a new beginning when things have “come off the rails.”

As I’ve focused my content here over the last six months on the topics that are most interesting to my personal journey and growth, it’s been an interesting endeavor to apply all that I’ve learned over the last two years from a business perspective on behalf of the school’s web presence.

Oatmeal and Berries

January 4, 2010

One of my greatest pleasures while visiting the city each week is the bowl of oatmeal with berries I get at La Pain Quotidien. The cappichino is exquisite as well.
The sense of the communal table which defines the cafe recaptures all that the “McStarbuckization” over the past decade lost in the American cafe culture.
How [...]

Two seasonal shout outs to the biggest supporters of Catskill Cottage Seed over the past 18 months.
On the public side of things, Liz Strauss, doing what she alone seems to have the knack for, continues to link to this blog and share the relevant posts for her audience through her Friday cafe. [...]

The Gift of the Shared Item

December 22, 2009

I recall an awkward theater games exercise back in my college days: one prop, a book; and one line, “I give you this book.” Then in randomly generated pairs this micro-play would get recast dozens of times.
In many ways the “shared item” practice of the social media space reminds me of [...]

Sugar Sugar

December 19, 2009

We started our journey last weekend by driving way into the hills to cut down our tree and precariously drive it back home strapped to our roof in the midst of an ice storm (third year in a row for that tricky drive).
Tonight the mysteries deepened with the alchemical gold that can be [...]
